A certain panorama, latest signature photography in Spain

From 28 June to 15 September

This exhibition – as its title suggests – offers a detailed and argued panoramic vision (one of the possible ones) of the latest signature photography taken in Spain (fundamentally that of a novel nature – and in the course of this last decade). The proposal, which is the fruit of an intense and prolonged study of two full years, contemplates three specific sections: a first section with the work of 6 authors on the wall (work located in the two main rooms of this museum), a second with the work of 48 artists presented in an audiovisual format (with an extensive permanent projection – accompanied by a stimulating and contemporary sound ambience – in the room of the basement floor) and a third in the form of theoretical research present in the detailed book that accompanies the exhibition in a collateral way (and which is also a core part of the project). In this way, the proposal seeks to combine – on one side – visual and aesthetic appeal and – on the other – evident academic and critical rigor. Whoever wishes can access extensive information on the individual projects of each of the 54 authors (as well as the synergies or divergences that can occur between them -in addition to a couple of more generational essays-) in the aforementioned publication. The book is available in both rooms for permanent public consultation.

In spite of being a collective exhibition, there has not been an attempt to make an exhibition with a unit of thematic, formal and/or conceptual approach on which to work with the different artists, but it has been precisely the opposite: an open, heterogeneous, plural proposal. This diversity allows the spectator to navigate through the rich variety of conceptions that help to define the current photography of Spanish creation: from aesthetic issues (with the multiplicity of formats, languages, styles and resources devices that they are going to see) to thematic issues (a multitude of stories and concerns that characterize this generation of authors will be raised, stories that are naturally very related to time and the context in which they live).
