4th Online session towards BIENALSUR 2021 on streaming with simultaneous translation into English

Within the context of the current pandemic crisis, we continue with the series of online public dialogues from BIENALSUR aimed at Thinking about possible futures. Those of us who have the opportunity to observe from safe places the complex scenario of all kinds of profound inequalities unveiled by the sanitary emergency brought about by COVID-19 are responsible for reflecting not only on how we got here but, above all, on how we will chart possible futures.

The field of culture, a sector with unique characteristics, has been instrumental in providing many people around the world with support at this complex juncture in terms of recreation, learning and thinking, though it has also revealed its fragility. Bearing both situations in mind, we invite you to engage in a dialogue about the role of culture in times of crisis. The idea is, essentially, to talk about how to imagine and design the policies and strategies that will give rise to new and better ways of asserting the role of art and culture as a necessary space, and therefore one that is widely accessible in socio-economic terms and respectful of diversity.

Aníbal Jozami, general director of BIENALSUR, and Diana Wechsler, artistic director of BIENALSUR, will talk via streaming about Culture in the light of new horizons with Ernesto Ottone (CHL), UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Culture; Rebeca Grynspan (CRI), Ibero-American Secretary General; Carmen Inés Vásquez Camacho (COL), Minister of Culture of Colombia; Enrique Avogadro (ARG), Minister of Culture of the City of Buenos Aires; Virginia Agote (ARG), Secretary of Culture of San Juan; Katsuhiko Hibino (JPN), Dean of the School of Fine Arts, Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music; and Nada Shabout (GBR), Art historian, specialist in the Arab world

We will be waiting for all of you on the BIENALSUR website, on Saturday 27 at noon (12 Argentina time). The meeting will be held via streaming with simultaneous translation into English at bienalsur.org/en

We will receive your questions for the participants of the 4th Online session towards BIENALSUR 2021 in the encuentros@bienalsur.org mail.
